Snake Oil

snakeoilEven when you feel like you have found your favorite lube out there, another lube comes along that makes you pause to consider the other options available to you.  When I first heard about Snake Oil, I was intrigued.  If not by the fact that it was an oil based lubricant that claimed to be latex friendly, then by the really really really ugly bottle.  After passing over it time after time, I decided that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover…and I’m so glad that I didn’t!

Oil based lubricants are not latex safe.  The chemicals in oil based lubes and creams actually deteriorate latex and thus they are not compatible with latex condoms.  ForPlay however claims that Snake Oil is 100% latex safe, despite being an oil based lubricant.  This is because they make Snake Oil out of natural oils such as sunflower seed oil, macadamia nut oil, sesame oil and mandarin oil.  I don’t trust anybody though and decided to give it a test myself by leaving a latex condom soaking in Snake Oil over night.

In the morning, the condom was indeed still in tact!

Snake Oil is really, really drippy.  Even when I was applying it to myself, it was dripping on the floor and a little bit down my legs.  This sounds gross, but Snake Oil actually doesn’t stain fabric — something that a lot of people complain about when using silicone based lubricants.  The slippery, drippy liquid felt really oily in my hand and on/inside of me, providing an excellent source of lubrication.

Another boon to Snake Oil is that it is long lasting.  After applying it to myself and going to town, I found that it didn’t dry up at all!  It isn’t a very thick lubricant — and is actually one of the thinnest I have ever felt — and so some people might not like it for anal, but for others this would be a great swap out from their regular lube.

I did a taste test and found that it literally tasted like natural oil.  It wasn’t gross at all and very mild, which comes in handy.  This is a lot of fun to use when you are giving someone head, but even more fun when you are rimming someone.  The “palate pleasing” taste combined with the extra slipperiness makes for some great ass munching!  On top of not being disgusting to taste, it’s also completely safe to ingest, so don’t worry about swallowing any of it.

I like jerking off with Snake Oil because it doesn’t dry up like water base lubes do, but it is a lot easier to clean up than silicone lubes are.  Clean up is literally a matter of turning on the water and maybe using a little soap, if that even. I’d even venture to say that it would make a very nice massage lotion in a pinch, but I haven’t had anyone offer yet so we shall see how that pans out.

All in all I’d say Snake Oil is a great lube.  It’s only $25 for a bottle.  I suggest giving it a try, even if you have some lube that you like to use already.  It may not replace your favorite, but it will definitely make a lot of you want to get messy while jerking off or fucking and not have to worry about your Egyptian cotton sheets.  My only complaint really is the bottle cap.  This thing is impossible to open with a lubed up hand!
