I was recently talking to someone about glass dildos. He was telling me how he received one for free with the purchase of a mens masturbator sleeve and didn’t know why they sent him a “girl toy.” Well you know how I feel about that, but especially when it comes to glass toys. Glass is actually one of my favorite materials to play with, but it’s also one of the materials that is most feared out there. And now that 1 Guy 1 Cup video came out (please don’t search for it, you’ll be sorry — Lucy can attest to that) and more and more people started scoffing at the concept of a glass dildo. I decided to talk about the Pyrexion toy that I was given by Aaron of Pyrexions hoping to dispel some of these fears and enlighten some people to the greatness that is glass!
Let me just say that I understand why glass toys sound scary. Glass breaks, right? And you don’t want it to break or even chip in your sensitive little butt. Just the thought sends a shiver up your spine.
However, high-end glass toys are actually made of Pyrex. Pyrex is that stuff that your glass kitchen equipment is made out of. It’s far more durable than regular glass because it’s made up of resistant borosilicate glass.
I don’t recommend that you use just any glass toy. Remember, it’s important to have a flared base with your anal toys, and a lot of glass pieces out there are just straight with little or no base at all. Luckily that wasn’t the case with my little Pyrexions toy!
There are some really gorgeous glass pieces out there, and Pyrexions makes some nice ones. They are all individually hand made by the owner and operator which means that no two are exactly alike. My particular piece doesn’t have any fancy artwork in it, but I have seen some of the other ones they have made and they are really pretty! I almost want to collect them to hang on my wall or something.
Pyrexions uses a high grade Pyrex developed by Corning, which was the company that first introduced Pyrex to the world in 1915. Pyrex itself is body safe and non-porous, which means it wont harbor bacteria. This makes clean up a lot easier since all you’d have to use is some warm water and antibacterial soap to wash it off. Also, since it’s made of Pyrex you can use any lube you want with it — water base, silicone and even super-slick oil. And once you lube up this piece, you’d be amazed how much better it feels than some of the other materials out there. Take a Pyrex toy and silicone toy of the same size and shape and you’ll find that the Pyrex toy is a LOT easier to take without losing any of the qualities of what a toy that size has to offer!
Pyrex has a very firm but very smooth texture to it when lubricated. For people that feel that they are tight and can’t use toys with ease, I would suggest giving one of these a try. I have a very deep love affair with this particular piece because it easily goes in and out and puts a lot of pressure right on the prostate. The artists over at Pyrexions know exactly how to shape and form their pieces to make your body feel good!
Something that is fun to do with this toy that is unique to the material is playing with temperature. Pyrex retains temperature well, so all I had to do was place it in a bowl of warm water for a minute and suddenly I had a whole new sensation. Not only was the toy slick and firm but now it was also warm, which is a really hard sensation to describe internally but let me tell you — it’s good stuff! You can also put it in cold water or even the freezer for a minute if you want to play with cold temperatures. I wasn’t so much a fan of this but I could see this being fun to do with a partner. Chilling a couple pieces of Pyrexions and gently tickling each other with them. Yum-City!
After seeing some of the pretty glass out there, I am sad that it isn’t fancier looking. It just one solid plain color, no fancy swirls or anything. That becomes moot once you start using it though, and since it’s so durable if you treat your Pyrexions toy right it will last you a life time!
